Below are some stories from 2003:

Tom recently found a Central Catholic vs. North Catholic football game program on Ebay from a game played in 1951.  For those of you who don't know, there has been a great rivalry between North Catholic and Central Catholic in Pittsburgh for many years.  Tom, his dad, his McGinley cousins and uncles all went to Central.  His dad's (Laughlin & Rooney) cousins all went to North.  One of Tom's dad's cousins is actually listed on the 1951 Squad List for North Catholic in this program.  Click on the picture for more information.

Congratulation to our Loyola/ New York City friend, Jen Walsh, who married Ed Boyle in Jen's hometown of Scranton, PA on November 8.  Click here to see the pictures contributed by our friends.

Happy Birthday to Liz's mother, Mary Ann (a.k.a. Mac). Click here to see pictures taken at a mini-birthday celebration with family in Nantucket.

Congratulations to Tom's step-brother, Paul Herron Jr and his new wife, Elizabeth.  The two were married on October 11, 2003 in Washington D.C..

Congratulations to Tom's cousin, Eve McGinley and her new beau Joe.  The young couple was married on August 16 by a talented singing priest.

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Tom's grandmother, Marie Rooney McGinley.  She was the matriarch of the McGinley family and she is missed dearly.

This picture, taken sometime in the 1940's shows Tom's grandparents, Jack & Marie enjoying a cocktail with a friend at The Stork Club in New York City.

Tom and his cousin Joe are working on a project to scan a number of great old pictures like this one into an online album.  Click here to see the pictures we have so far.

Tom's Grandmother met his grandfather during the days of the Rooney-McGinley Boxing Club.  Tom's cousin, Kathy Rooney designed a poster commemorating the days of the Rooney-McGinley Boxing Club.  Click here to see more of the work that Kathy has done for the Steelers.

Pictures from our recent trips to Nantucket (4th Of July) and Hilton Head have been added to the site.  Click the picture of Tom's sister, Amy with Drummond and Liz to view pictures from our annual trip to Hilton Head.

Tom's cousin Tim Rooney Jr. recently made a generous contribution to the "Steeler Stuff" collection featured within TheMcGinleys.com.

Tim sent a copy of a 1939 Newsweek article titled "Rooney's Run" detailing one of Uncle Art's lucky days at the track. This article is similar to the 1937 "Turf & Sport" article also featured within the "Steeler Stuff" section of this web site.  Thanks Tim!

Tom's Aunt Toni came across some classic pictures of Tom's father's graduation from Central Catholic High School in 1965.

On June 13, 1998, there was a horrible storm on the island of Nantucket.  That was the day we had selected as our wedding day.  Before the storm, our wedding photographer was able to get some very nice pictures in.  We recently scanned the negatives from our wedding day and uploaded the pictures to Shutterfly.com.  Click here to view our wedding pictures from June 13, 1998.

Congratulations to Jim Schmidtlein, Tom's roommate from college who became the father of a big baby boy- James Michael Jr. coming in at 9 lbs., 11 oz. on May 29.

On May 16, 2003, a reporter from the Wall Street Journal wrote an article comparing several online cake delivery services.  She rated CakeClick.com #1.

Tom created and continues to manage the online store for Ruthy's Bakery which operates one block down the street  from his Manhattan apartment.

We purchased an original portrait of Uncle Art we found on Ebay.  The portrait was painted by Johno Prascak, a Pittsburgh artist who has been commissioned by the Steelers to paint various team paintings.

Another interesting Ebay acquisition was a 1937 copy of Turf & Sport Digest featuring a story about a lucky weekend at the track for Uncle Art.  Just in time for the Belmont Stakes.  Click here to view the article (It is best if you save this Word document to your own computer, then print it out).
